Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta idiocy

It would be really wonderful if you could tell me, before I put in all my user details for a Yahoo! Mail account into the ‘add account’ wizard, that “You must have Yahoo Mail Plus to use this e-mail client with your Yahoo Account. Please go to the Yahoo site to find out how to become a Yahoo Mail Plus User. Http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com”.

I knew it was not possible to access Yahoo! Mail without being on the paid program, but with their new bonhomie over the Google threat, who knows where else it might be possible other than just instant messengers for Microsoft and Yahoo! to join hands. But, as it turns out, that is not the case.

And strangely, the dialogue box that pops up with the message has the title ‘congratulations’. Funny.

On a brighter note, I think the beta is working, which was not the case the last time I’d tried it out due to some weird error about my internet connection not being there.
